In 1985,Cleveland was one of the co-founders along with Courtney PIne O.B.E. of
the extremely influential Jazz Warriors Big band.He was awarded Wire / Guardian Jazz
'best vocalist' for 3 consecutive years.
 
 
In 1989,Pete Townsend of The Who began a long collaboration period with
Cleveland.Firstly he featured on the concept album 'The Iron Man' and was invited
on the 25th Anniversary tour of USA & in 2001 performed with Townsend at
'Sadlers Wells Theatre' on his "Life House Project".
After the release of 2 critically acclaimed albums for Polydor Records,"Green
Chimneys" & "Blessing in Disguise",Cleveland formed a Drum n' Bass Trio,"
Project 23 " with American drummer Marque Gilmore and UK garage pioneer DJ
Le Rouge.Shortly after this collaboration, Cleveland was invited by Goldie to record
on the ground breaking album "Timeless".He then spent 2 years as the 'original'
resident Vocalist / MC at the world famous Blue Note club.
